Workflows Mark Item Lost - Problems

Overview:

How to clear a student record when option to “Mark Item Lost” is not an option.

Instructions:

Normally, to clear a record for a book payment or replacement you would right-click on the item barcode, Mark Item Lost, select reason and Pay Now.

  • However, if you right-click on the barcode for a lost item and the “mark item lost” option is not available (see screenshot), this means that the item is already marked lost, or some other option like claims lost, or MISSING, etc.

When you cannot mark an item lost you need to look at the item record.

  1. You can do this with “Check Item Status.”  Then click on the barcode number to see the item record.   

    To open the item record click Check Item Status, then select the barcode number

  2. You can see that the current location is MISSING.  This could have happened in inventory, or someone marked it missing.

  3. In any case, there are two ways to clear the record:
    1. Check the item in, and then delete it… which you cannot do without SUP access.
    2. Check the item in
      1. Check out the item to the same user
      2. Then right-click on the item barcode and select MARK ITEM LOST
      3. Select a reason (such as CASH, FORGIVEN, REPLACED, ETC)
      4. Click Pay Now.
      5. The item should immediately come off the student record.
