Body
Overview:
When Workflows Library Automation Software has been installed on a computer the property settings must be completed for EACH USER on that computer. Settings can be done by going through all the links on each Wizard, or by copying an existing property file, editing, and saving in EACH USER profile in Windows.
Directions to locate property settings documents:
Property settings instructions for CIRCULATION and CATALOGING wizards can be found on the network shared drive-- L:\District Share\curriculum\library and technology\Sirsi\Property Settings
These documents are very detailed, and settings should be completed by an experienced librarian.
Directions to Copy, Edit and Save property files to multiple users:
- Complete full install of Workflows.
- Copy existing property file.
- Option #1: from a computer that already has all the settings completed. (NOTE: If you know a computer is being replaced or imaged, you can copy the property and preference files to a USB drive before the replacement process begins. This will save all custom settings.)
- Go to the Windows User Profile folder. C:\Users\XXXXXXX\Sirsi\Workflows\Property (Where XXXXXXX is each users network ID. Note: each user will have to login to the computer and Workflows before starting this whole process.)
- Copy the “property” file and optional “preference” file. (Preference includes settings like color, font size, tab view, etc.)
- Save file(s) to a USB drive if moving to a different computer (at the same library).
- On the new computer: Paste the file(s) into the workflows property folder for EACH USER. C:\Users\XXXXXXX\Sirsi\Workflows\Property
- Click “yes” when prompted to replace the existing file. Or, delete the existing file before pasting.
- Repeat this for each user that logs into Workflows.
- Option #2: Use a saved ‘generic’ property file and modify for current library.
- Go to the network shared drive: L:\District Share\curriculum\library and technology\Sirsi\Property Settings
- Copy the “property” file.
- Paste the file to your computer desktop.
- Double click to open the file using notepad the text editor.
- Click on the EDIT menu and select the “Replace” option.
- You want to replace the existing library code with your library code. To find the existing library code you will need to read through the text to see it. It should be about seven lines down.
- Click “Replace All.”
- Save the file. (do not save as or change the file name. The file name must be “property” with no caps.)
- Right click on the file to COPY.
- Paste the file in the workflows property folder for EACH USER. C:\Users\XXXXXXX\Sirsi\Workflows\Property
- Click “yes” when prompted to replace the existing file. Or, delete the existing file before pasting.
- Repeat the file paste for each user that logs into Workflows.
- You can also replace the “preference” file. There is no need to edit the preference file. Preference includes settings like color, font size, tab view, etc.
