Overview:

Content
  • On November 23, 2020 we will be requiring all devices with Microsoft Office 2016 installed to upgrade to Microsoft Office 365. The upgrade process will take 15-30 minutes with minimal interruptions (no reboot is required). Office 365 is already available in Software Center if you would like to upgrade on your own before the deadline follow the instructions below.

Instructions:

  1. To kick off the upgrade process (or just check what version of Office you have installed), perform a Windows search for “Software Center” and open the program.
  2. Once Software Center launches, you should see Office 365 in the Applications tab.
  3. Click on Office 365 to determine if you have it installed already or not. If Office 365 is installed, you will see a greyed out “uninstall” button, and if it is not installed, you will see a blue “install” button.
  4.  To begin installing Office 365, click “install.” After the setup files have downloaded you should see the following popups over the next 10-15 minutes while Office installs.
  5.  You will only see this next popup if you currently have an Office 2016 application open when the 365 installation begins:  After saving your work, hit continue to proceed with the installation.
  6. Once you see this final popup the upgrade is complete. No further action is required.
