8021x Connection for Principal Mobile

Overview:

Instructions for Principals to add the 8021x_MSBSD Connection to their mobile devices. Split by Android and iPhone.

Android

  1. Settings > Wifi > select 8021x_MSBSD

  1. EAP method - ensure it is PEAP.
  1. Tap Phase 2 authentication, and then select MSCHAPV2.
  1. Login with AD credentials then select Join

  1. *Note - on the newer Android OS (ex. Android 7.0 Nougat) will need to select CA certificate as unvalidated and ignore warning that the session may not be private. This is Androids version of the iPhone “untrusted” warning. On the District network, the sessions will be private.
  1. If successful, the IP address will be 10.xx.xx.xx i.e. 10.2.16.100. If the IP address is 10.222.xx.xx it has failed. The common cause for failure is an incorrect username or password. To repair select “Forget” and repeat process.

iPhone

Settings > WiFi > Select 8021X_MSBSD

  1. Login with AD credentials then select Join

  1. Trust the MatsuK12.us certificate

  1. To verify you are on the 8021x navigate back to the wireless networks screen and select 8021X_MSBSD.

  1. If successful, the IP address will be 10.xx.xx.xx i.e. 10.2.16.100. If the IP address is 10.222.xx.xx it has failed. The common cause for failure is an incorrect username or password. To repair select “Forget” and repeat process.
