Overview:
Student groups in Synergy track student participation and eligibility in athletics or clubs. It is also a tool that is utilized for rostering students for various purposes (TVUE Special Ed Rosters (SSS Roster), Clever, Advisors, Printing Reports, etc.). Groups can also be used to track a student’s attendance, discipline and grades. Groups are managed at the district level and schools choose which groups to use at their site. There are several Clever and Generic Groups that can be utilized for rostering or any purpose deemed necessary.
Fees can be assigned to groups prior to students being added this will allow the fee to be applied to the students added to the group.

Opting in to School Groups
- Navigate to: Synergy SIS > Student > Setup > School Groups
- To Opt‐In to a group, Click on the checkbox: Used in School for all groups needed

- Click Save
Adding a fee to a group
If a fee is to be connected to the group you must add the fee prior to adding students to the group for it to attach the fee properly to students.
- Follow the instructions in the Schoolpay Payments article, Additional Synergy Fees
- Once the fee is created in Schoolpay and set up properly, go to the group and under School Fee click Add

- Use the dropdown to find the fee code (1) and category(2). Fill in the description (3) and amount (4) then save (5). These must match what is in Schoolpay

- Go to the Add Students section.

Adding/Removing Staff
In the Staff section:
- Click on the clip/search icon

- Type name and enter to find

- Highlight the correct staff, Select, Save
- Additional Staff can be added by using the Add button in the Additional Staff Section.
- Find the staff then use the drop down list to select Sponsor type.
- To remove additional staff check the box of the line and Save.
- To remove staff, you can replace the current staff by finding the new name.
- If no replacement is ready, select the icon and use the Clear Selection button.
Adding/Removing Students
Have a list of student IDs handy to easily add the needed students to the group.
- Go to the Student tab on the Group screen

- When you click the Chooser button,
you can add the student by pasting a list of IDs into the Student ID field, hit enter or find and the list will populate on a Find Result list and a Selected Items list. If you are satisfied with the Selected list, click the Select button at the top and Save.
- You can also populate students by grade, and then select from the Find list.
- You can also add the students one by one, by name.
- To remove students enter a Leave Date for the student and they will move to the history tab. You can Mass Assign a Group end date as well.
